Regular antenatal clinics are held by midwifes coming to the clinic.
When you first learn that you’re pregnant, get in touch with the midwife or Doctor as soon as possible so that you can start your antenatal (pregnancy) care. This will also help to make sure you receive maternity healthcare that takes into account all your health needs and preferences.
Antenatal care is the care you receive from healthcare professionals during your pregnancy. You’ll be offered a series of appointments with the midwife, or sometimes with a doctor who specialises in pregnancy and birth (an obstetrician).
They will check that you and your baby are well, give you useful information to help you have a healthy pregnancy (including healthy eating and exercise advice) and answer any questions you may have. You will also be offered antenatal classes, including breastfeeding workshops. You need to book antenatal classes in advance, so ask your midwife about when you should book classes in your area.
There is a lot of whooping cough around at the moment and babies who are too young to start their vaccinations are at greatest risk. Expectant Mums can help protect their babies by getting themselves vaccinated against whooping cough from week 28 of their pregnancy. Please ask your midwife for details.

When booking holidays overseas it is important to consider which vaccinations you may need. Our practice nurses will be happy to give you advice on this important issue to safeguard the health of you and family. You will need to book an appointment for this advice ideally at least six weeks before your holiday. This will allow sufficient time for the vaccinations to be given and to provide you with the desired cover against diseases.
When booking your appointment with the nurse, please provide the Receptionist with your travel destination.
Please note that the advice our nurses give on travel is free but charges do apply to certain vaccinations. For current charges please see ‘Private Charges’ notice in the waiting area, or click here.

Patients with the above conditions are invited annually for a review which includes checking medication. To ensure good medical practice and safe prescribing patients are obliged to attend an annual review. Patients risking their own health by not attending will be issued with seven day prescriptions for one month to allow attendance. If a patient continues not to attend a review after the one month period then they will be asked to find another GP practice – we cannot safely look after a patient without a review. Patients with the above conditions are entitled to a free annual flu vaccination.
Clinics
We aim to provide good and comprehensive patient care within the context of general practice. Appointments may be made to attend specific clinics which are run separately from routine surgeries.

Free health checks are available for patients between the ages of 40 to 74 without a pre-existing condition. The check is designed to assess your risk of developing high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, kidney disease or diabetes.
These conditions are the number one cause of premature death and patients are often unaware that they’ve developed a problem until it’s too late.
The check is available from Nicola your health care assistant. It’s quick and easy, and if we do find a problem, you’ll get plenty of personalised help and advice on simple lifestyles changes that can make a huge difference.
The check is based on questions and measurements such as age, family history, height, weight and blood pressure. There will also be a simple blood test to measure your cholesterol. A free health check is available every five years.
We are currently sending out postal invitations to relevant patients inviting them in for this health check. However if you fit the above category and wish to have your health check now then please contact reception to make your appointment.
