Antenatal Clinics

Regular antenatal clinics are held by our attached midwife.

Minor Surgery

Drs Durr and Bancroft hold a Minor Surgery session most Thursday mornings at Broomfield Park Medical Centre. They offer a range of minor surgical procedures such as excision of moles, in-growing toenails etc under local anaesthetic. Please book a normal appointment first to check whether the procedure you require is suitable to be dealt with at our practice.

Joint injections are available at both practices and can be booked as normal appointments with either Drs Durr, Whidborne or Bancroft.  The doctor you have seen will refer you to reception to make an appointment.

Child Health Surveillance

Drs Green and Straw carry out 8 week baby checks at Broomfield Park MC.  Appointment letters are sent out by the practice for these checks and first immunisations.

Contraception And Sexual Health

Broomfield Park Medical Centre provides all methods of contraception including emergency contraception, coil and Implanon fitting. Coil fittings are undertaken by Drs Durr and Straw.  Contraceptive Implants are fitted by Dr Straw and Marie White, Nurse Practitioner.  Cervical smears are undertaken by our practice nurses.  Dr Majevadia has a special interest in men's health, including erectile dysfunction.

Flu Vaccination Clinics

Flu vaccination clinics are held in October/November each year for all 'at risk' patients.  At risk patients are those who suffer from heart disease, kidney disease, asthmatics, diabetics and those aged 65 and over.  Please contact reception or look on the web site in October for details of flu vaccination clinics.

Travel Advice

When booking holidays overseas it is important to consider which vaccinations you may need.  Our practice nurses will be happy to give you advice on this important issue to safeguard the health of you and family.  You will need to book an appointment for this advice ideally at least six weeks before your holiday.  This will allow sufficient time for the vaccinations to be given and to provide you with the desired cover against diseases.

Prior to your travel appointment with the nurse you will be requested to fully complete a travel questionnaire.  This form is available to download below. If completing this form online please do so three days prior to your appointment, or print off and bring with you. Alternatively please collect the form from the practice prior to your appointment or allow a few extra minutes before your appointment for completion.

Please note that the advice our nurses give on travel is free but charges do apply to certain vaccinations.  For current charges please see 'Private Charges' notice in the waiting area.

Samples/Tests

The practice may request many different types of samples such as urine, blood, stools etc. You can choose to return your sample to one of the following:

• Pathology, Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital, Stoney Stanton Road, Coventry
• Pathology, University Hospital, Clifford Bridge Road, Coventry 
• Broomfield Park Medical Centre (before 10.30am Mon-Fri*)

SAMPLES CANNOT BE LEFT AT THE PRACTICE AFTER 10.30am on FRIDAYS as they are unusable after a weekend.

*  Samples are collected each morning by courier.  If you bring yours into the practice after 10.30am it will not be sent off until the next day which will slow down the receipt of your results.

Test Results

Note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.

When you take your test you will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice.

It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if your are advised to do so.

HOSPITAL REFERRALS AND CONSULTANT APPOINTMENTS

The practice uses 'Choose and Book' for hospital referrals which incorporates a triage support service. This means that patients referred by a GP are able to choose, in most instances, a convenient place, date and time for their initial hospital appointment. In order to assist, there is a freephone telephone number that you can ring to enquire about any referral made to University Hospitals (Coventry and Warwick, Walsgrave and Rugby St. Cross). The telephone number is 0800 252060. The line is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm Monday to Friday and from 8.00am to 4.00pm on Saturday. Please have your hospital number to hand when ringing.

The triage support service can be contacted on 0300 020 0013.

Private Fees

Certain work undertaken in this practice is not covered by the NHS which means it is chargeable, for instance an employment medical examination/report, completion of an insurance report etc. A list of private charges is on the notice board in the waiting area. 

Please allow up to 10 working days for this type of work to be completed. Paperwork of this nature given to a doctor will not be completed during a consultation.

We accept cash or cheque only as payment for private fees.

Patient Panel

This practice has an active patient panel that meets approximately twice per year. The valuable role of the patient panel is to seek ways to improve the services given by the practice. There are up to 12 members on the panel who consist of patients of this practice of various ages and backgrounds. If you wish to be considered for the panel please contact the practice manager.
